Spin For The Win

We are kind of obsessed with spin class (aka indoor cycling)! It’s a dance party on a bike. You don’t even realize how hard you are working because you are having such a good time.


Here at FORFITSAKE, we go to a lot of fitness classes, from pilates to yoga to Crossfit and everything in between. But when we are looking for a kick-ass, calorie-burning cardio session, spin class is our go-to!



Here are 5 reasons we love to spin:


1. The energy is infectious.


Spin is a place to get motivated and get the endorphins flowing. From the instructor to your fellow classmates, when everyone around you is giving 120%, climbing that hill or sprint to the very end seems that much easier. Plus, you can burn anywhere from 400 to 600+ calories a session depending on the class.


2. You’ll get lost pedalling to killer music.


Seriously, don’t underestimate the power of a great soundtrack to push you. Like we said its a dance party on a bike! There’s nothing like keeping pace with a good beat and seeing everyone else around you on the same count. Research even supports that athletes work out harder when listening to music at a faster tempo. You may even discover some new jams to download at home and add to your own exercise playlist.


3. You’ll get a full-body workout — not just legs!


“Wait, why are there weight by my bike?” While Spinning is great for your legs, spin classes are focusing on giving riders total-body burn by incorporating weights into the ride. And don’t let the size fool you, after a few songs you’ll be cursing those bad boys no matter your strength level.


4. You’ll define and sculpt your body.


No, your legs are going to bulk up. The interval training that most studios practice, with some upper-body work, allows you to tone your leg muscles and sculpt your body back into youthful shape. The key to a lean body is burning calories and spin has that in spades!


5. You’ll leave feeling euphoric.


We have all heard of a runners high, well the same applies to spin class. Not only will you leave dripping, you will leave feeling even better than when you started class. Intense cardio sessions are known to produce hormones and neurotransmitters that have a positive impact on your mood, memory, energy levels, and sense of well-being. After a great class, you’ll leave feeling tired (in a good way) but moreover you’ll feel relaxed and have a great sense of accomplishment.
